Nordic herbivores

Reindeer are an essential part of Nordic nature. At Park Nordica, you can meet Hilde, Trine, Salt and Pepper. Hilde is shy, but important to the herd as Pepper’s mother and Salt’s grandmother. Trine came to the park in 2025 after being bottle-fed locally when her mother rejected her. She is very tame and will often follow people around when she gets the chance.

The moose is known as the king of the forest. At Park Nordica, Elgoline is more like the queen. Born wild in Nærøysund, she came to the park as a calf after her mother did not return.

Elgoline enjoys being around people and likes to join the keepers when they work in her enclosure. She would also like to taste every tool she finds. She has a sweet tooth too, although carrots are usually as sweet as it gets. Elgoline lives with Styrk, her calf from 2025. He is not as tame as his mother, but he is curious about new people and new things.

Among the deer at Park Nordica, Nora is in charge. Born in Grong in 2019, she is the herd leader and the tamest of the group. She will even accept a little attention now and then.

Nora lives with Henry, Marie and Julie. Henry was born at the park in 2024, while Marie and Julie were born here in 2023. Deer are elegant, alert and beautiful animals. The longer you watch them, the more you notice.

Park Nordica is home to two older female fallow deer. They are shy and tend to keep their distance, as many deer do. That makes spotting them even more rewarding.

With their distinctive look and calm nature, the fallow deer stand apart from the other deer species in the park.
